I Got A Kindle! Here Are My Thoughts...

I’ve had my Paperwhite Kindle for a few months and have officially formed my opinions on e-books…

I don't know why getting a Kindle took me this long, but I regret not getting one sooner! To set the record straight, I have no qualms with e-books. A Kindle just seemed like a big commitment. I enjoy going to the bookstore, browsing all the different titles, and picking out my next read. Holding a physical book makes me happy. I will always be a paperback girl, but the Kindle has some perks.

Here are six things I love about my Kindle!

1: Easy to Travel with

Traveling is one of my favorite things; my Kindle makes it much easier! I have taken three trips since I got my Kindle, which has been life-changing. If I finished a book, I could have a new one downloaded to my library in seconds. It was terrific, and I could pack lighter without thinking about what books to bring for the plane ride and downtime.

2: Reading at Night

I read a lot at night, and having a Kindle where I don’t have to worry about a reading light is fantastic. The light in my Kindle screen is always set to warm lighting (which I prefer), and being able to adjust the brightness at night is lovely. Having a reading light is often awkward, and it is hard to see the whole page. The Kindle makes it much easier to see and turn the pages!

3: Kindle Unlimited

Access to the sheer amount of books that Kindle Unlimited offers is incredible. I always feel like I have something to read. I am a fast reader, and having so many books to choose from has helped broaden my horizons. I have been exploring new genres and authors that I would not have otherwise.

4: Space Saver

The amount of space (and money) I have saved with my Kindle is mind-blowing. It allows me to be more intentional with my purchases. My bookshelf now houses more books that I feel are my absolute favorites or books that I have a high chance of enjoying. I don’t have a super long TBR of physical books anymore, and I don’t feel like I have random piles of books around anymore!

5: Tracking Reading

My Kindle is connected to my Goodreads, making tracking my reading super easy! Being able to log in and leave my review right after finishing a book is a game changer since I have all my thoughts together and can take the time to review it then and there.

6: Annotations

The highlights and notes on the Kindle are also helpful for remembering what I thought while reading! I have never been one to annotate my books (I did it so much back in college that it feels too academic to me), but now I find myself highlighting different lines and my reactions to different chapters.

While I love having a Kindle, I still prefer paperback books. There is something about having a physical book to read that makes me so happy, but having a Kindle has helped me grow as a reader! I have read more books this year of all different genres. I appreciate how much this new addition to my reading has helped me explore more of what is out there.
