We recently opened our own bookstagram account and have been spending WAY too much time looking at all the beautiful pictures. Some of the pictures were so gorgeous that we just had to buy the books! Here are some books that bookstagram made us buy.
A few months ago, we started our own bookstagram account (Check us out @bookishbaughs on instagram!). We have met so many wonderful people and been able to see some amazing photos; however, all of these pretty pictures may or may not have fueled our book buying addiction (whoops...). Since we kept seeing all these different books, we began to wonder what made them so great. Was it the cover, the author, or the actual writing? Here are some of the books we’ve bought because of bookstagram and whether or not we think they are worth the hype.
***Disclaimer: These opinions are entirely our own and if you want to know whether or not you’ll like a book, you have to read it!***
Fable Duology
Summary:

She learned one thing on that fateful day: trust no one. After living on the island for four years making her own way as a dreger, Fable wants nothing more than to prove her father wrong and claim her place on his crew. When her plan falls apart at the worst possible moment, she must decide between spending the rest of her life on Jeval or trusting a misfit crew with a handsome captain to set her free.
Our Thoughts:
This duology was our first purchase and it did not disappoint. It was everything that we expected it to be and more. With an amazing plot and interesting characters, this book has romance, action, betrayal, and so much more! Plus, the covers are STUNNING, they are literally perfect.
Is it worth the hype?
Yes! These books were SOOO good. :)
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

With no family, no friends, and no purpose, Addie aimlessly drifts through time. She is determined to find a way to leave a mark on the world that won’t remember her, but what happens when she finds someone who does?
Our Thoughts:
This book was so beautiful, we both cried (like a lot). Easily one of the best books we’ve ever read, The Invisible Life Of Addie LaRue was a book packed full of questions about purpose and life. This book was much deeper than we expected it to be and if you haven’t read it, stop reading this and go read this book!
Is it worth the hype?
Yes yes yes! We loved this book. :)
The Folk of The Air
Summary:
After the brutal murder of her parents, Jude and her sisters are swept away into the Faerie world. Living as a mortal in the court caused Jude to grow up defiant and stubborn, she refused to allow anyone to think less of her just because she was a mortal. When Jude is denied a place in the King’s court as a knight, she believes that she will never be truly accepted by the Faerie folk, until a different opportunity arises. As Jude learns the truth behind this world full of facades and betrayal, she begins to realize that she holds more power than she ever thought possible.
Our Thoughts:
We have had our eye on this series for a while, but were ultimately inspired by bookstagram to read them. The world building in these books is absolutely incredible! While reading these books, we became completely lost in them. It was extremely difficult to move on after reading these books and we would highly recommend them!
Is it worth the hype?
Yes, these were so beautiful to read!
Six of Crows Duology
Summary:
When Kaz Brekker, a criminal prodigy, is hired to complete an impossible and deadly heist with a price that would set him for life, he knows he is not able to do it alone. Kaz recruits his band of talented and dangerous outcasts to help him pull it off. They all hope to gain something with their prize; however, his crew is not the only one with an eye on this prize. In order to outmaneuver the other crews, Kaz and his crows must be one step ahead of the game, so what happens when the others start to catch up?
Our Thoughts:
This book is easily one of our favorites we have read this year. The actionpacked plot is so enjoyable to read, especially as it twists in ways you would never expect; although, this book is really worth it for the characters. Every one of Bardugo’s characters is unique and... morally grey (but we love them even more that way). They are all a breath of fresh air from the normal ya cliches, and the found family in this book is one of our favorites of all time. Additionally, the relationships between the characters are perfect and we ship them all soooo hard.
Is it worth the hype?
Yes, 100%
The Mortal Instruments
Summary:
When Clary is out at a club with some friends, she had no clue that her life was about to change. After witnessing a murder of a demon, Clary discovers that there is entire second world living within her own: the world of the Shadowhunters. Although Clary is obviously confused and frightened, the three shadowhunters who committed the murder are even more perplexed. Somehow, Clary can see them. Clary is swept away into this world of demons and angels and soon learns that she may be more important than she realizes.
Our Thoughts:
Personally, these books were a little slow and overly complicated for us. These books are the perfect in between series read, light and easy. We loved the characters and their interactions were some of our favorite parts of the book, but we got lost in the plot. We totally understand why people are obsessed with these books, they just weren't our favorite. We are, however, looking forward to reading some of the other series from the Shadowhunter world!
Is it worth the hype?
No, we weren't a huge fan of these books, but they were still a fun read. :)
